    Austin,

I understand trying to get "new" folks to sign up for accounts, but can you make it so that existing members can lurk when they either don't feel like logging on or can't?

I sometimes like to just read a few headlines without logging on. And sometimes, I have s**t to do! :p

Are you tracking the success rate of driving people (to sign up), who may just be passing through versus people who stay?

Just based on the odds, it would seem as if more newbies would be contributing to some of the babble!?! :eh:

Personally, if I were not already a member here and I was browsing around the forums trying to decide if I wanted to sign up or not and I was told I HAD to sign up I'd leave. I've never seen a forum that forced you to sign up just to lurk. I lurked for weeks before I read a post that interested me enough that I wanted to comment. That's when I signed up

Lots of forums force you to sign up. Besides. It takes all of 30 seconds. Lurkers don't benefit the forum in any way. By making an account it raises the probability that they might contribute here.
