Why not skin it and harvest the meat?
This was more about helping a buddy out with his farm land they are destroying.

So.... that means you had a purpose to kill them, not that you need one but, you killed it none the less.
Man enough to kill it but not man enough to harvest the meat?

The purpose of hunting some animals is to harvest meat. Others because they are a nuisance/pest and they need to be killed until they are dead. What's the issue? I killed a cockroach last night and didn't eat it, and now I feel horrible. Thanks Dishonered. 
I hear where you're coming from, D. I had a problem with the fact that in Texas, they mow them down from helicopters, Full Metal Jacket style, and leave them in the fields where they fall.
But... After heavily researching the subject, it's clear that they are a non-native, extremely destructive species, with no predators other than man. Their presence here disrupts our ecosystem. The "job" isn't harvesting meat, it's eradication. The fact that the are "open season" year round illustrates this.

I have immense respect for not only every animal, bird, or fish I hunt but also for those raised for food and I try daily to instill that into my children.
Feral hogs are a different story, they are to be Killed first and foremost then if some choose to eat them, well that is a byproduct.
