I recently lost my machete. It had a no frills 23-24 inch blade. Anyone out there knows where I can get another one like that? All the machetes now have 18 inch blades. Please help!

Check out Ontario kukri it's shorter than what you looking for but man does the work load go down when all you need to do is bend your wrist to cut some thick stuff. I've had the traditional ones before and they worked well and they worked my arm just as well that it hurt to move the next day.

Just look into them just can't say anything bad about a quality kukri and Ontario 1095 steel did right by these. They look very different and don't shun it for being different at first glance the thing is a work horse.

I thought I'd get one of those Camillus Carnivores, it felt good in my little hand, had a nice heft, multiple use blade. But..... it is not a full tang through the grip, only the front rivet hold it in a molded channel, and it has been known to snap just ahead of the rivet - no repairing that.

    Check this out; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJyoGvEXPwA

It would be a good pattern for someone to make their own, though with a full tang!

Holy Crap! I've never used one, was really just asking if that's something hes looking for.
I've SCRATCHED that part of my post :p

I've been very satisfied with the Gerber BEAR GRYLLS Parang.

Apparently there was a Recall at first launch(2 years ago?) But they're now Full Tang?

Regardless I use the crap out of mine and it works for me.

Though it's not a "machete", I get a lot of use out of my cane knife, as well. Great for clearing bike trails, etc...

Seriously, holds and edge, very tough, it's made in Brazil.... if there is anywhere I'd think that would be the place where goo machetes would be made, it would be Brazil. They are known for their steel production and have jungles to use machetes.

    Tramontina is what you want.

I have have a few and spent days making/recovering trails and after trying several machetes, my favorite by far is Tramontina.

+1 on the ontario kukri. Also check out the K-bar Kukri which I believe is made in the same factory with a little different blade profile.

Another Tramotina fan, use them all the time at work and for hunting. The 14" has long been my favorite but have started to take a liking to the 12" for hunting since it fits in my pack perfectly.
