I have been an avid shooter for some time now, but I have a question. Has anyone else noticed the amount of "1st time shooters" at your local range?
I have been spending a lot of time at the range in St. Bernard lately and seen an incredible amount of people go through there that proclaimed to be 1st timers.
They mostly appeared to be 20 something year old college students from Tulane and Xavier. Most were out of state students from gun-unfriendly states.
I even helped a few of them and they all seemed to have a really good time. Maybe there is hope for the future. LOL.
I also have seen an incredible amount of ladies looking to further their firearms skills. Please tell me that this is happening at the other local ranges.
I really should have gotten a group shot with some of the "mature" ladies that I helped on the line...their husbands subscribed to the get them a lightweight .38spl snubby to put in the purse club.
They hated shooting them, but loved shooting the Glock & S&W 9's that I had out with me.
Anyways, here are a few pictures from the range (St. Bernard Indoor).

Glad to see people around there are willing to listen.
My wife and I shoot around once a month, there is always a woman at the range that has no clue - MORE MEN, BUT THERE ALL PRICK'S AND "THEY DON'T NEED HELP". It's pretty damn funny when my daughters are with me and those guy's see them hitting close to center with my MK25.
My wife has helped many other women while shooting, I guess they feel more at ease?

    Very good post BTW!

Glad to see this place open again. I used to shoot the plate matches here on friday nights before Katrina. It was a good time. I work down the street now at Exxon. Ill have to stop by and check it out. Any plans starting the plate thing again?

I used to shoot at some of the plate matches too. I sure hope that they get them going soon. Loved it, kind of like drag racing with guns. :)

I will never forget my first plate match. I shot it with a service pistol that I had just broken in with 1000 rounds(in one week.) I won "D" class that night!
