Anyone else into 300BLK and also reload it?

I built my first 300BLk rifle last year(16" build) and started reloading for it at that same time. 1k+ rds of supers later...I'm now getting into load development for Sub-sonic loads. My AAC SD-6 .762 is almost out of purgatory...and looking forward putting this AR pistol through its paces with the subs.

I'm aware of the wealth of good info on 300blktalk.com, but looking to see if any other local guys also reload 300BLK.

I've been a 300BLK convert since it was a small blip on the public radar. I have done some extensive load tests on supers and subs. If you want to talk shop sometime you are more than welcome to call me up.

I've done a lot of loading with (Supers) H110/W296, LilGun, IMR4227 & A1680. For heavier bullets & Subs, A1680 is the preferred powder and I've had good results. I've loaded up some subs with some LilGun just to test and see what I get as far as cycling and bolt lock back.
You ever try LilGun on any of your Sub-sonic loads?

Been at it for 2 yrs now. Waiting for my upper/lower combo to come in from Aero Precision to complete the AR pistol. It'll be 8" with TBAC 30PS on the end. I've found the biggest issue with loading subs is getting the gun to cycle properly. 300blk is not supposed to have that issue, but with a carbine length gas system, it's been a problem for me twice now.

I use 208g Amax's and 10.5g Reloader 7 to ~2.2" OAL for my primary subsonic load through the 9" SBR with SDN-6. Cycles real well. For my 16" hunting rifle, 125g Nosler ballistic tips over 17.5g H110 works best, get 1/2 MOA with that load. I haven't worked up a subsonic load specifically for the 16" yet, due to issues with cycling as mentioned above (along with tremendous difficulty finding reloading components at the time). What I did do was cut down a recoil buffer spring by about 2 rungs and it works great with 220g Remington factory loads.

You'll have a blast with this round

Been using 208g Amax as well along with Hornady 208g HPBT over 10.5/11.0/11.5g of A1680...loaded to 2.215 OAL. This was in a 9" KAK "Mr. Blonde" barrel Pistol Gas. 100% function and GTG so far. Gonna try the LilGun this weekend just to get some data/test in.

    I run Lapua 220's for subs, pushed by H-110 8.4g moving at 1125fps. It's out of a 8.5" AAC with a SDN-6.
In my bolt gun, Remington 700 with a 16" barrel, it's 230's with 5.6gr of Unique at 1035fps. I'm running a TCustoms 9" .30 cal can on it.

    I reloaded a few so far 110 and 130 gr. using H110.
Running a 16" AR and a AAC Handirifle.
    I also have a SDN-6.
Looking for some A1680 (Jake if you find any I want 4-5 lbs just buy it)
I am currently cutting LC 5.56 rounds to make my blackout brass.
I hear Donnie (Bayou Bullets) is getting a mold made for some 220-230 bullets.

I heard the same thing about the BayouBullets. I think I have some A-1680. I'll take a look, if I do it's yours. Are you using that jig to cut them or are you using a trim die in your Dillon? I'm still using brass that I cut on my mill from last year, but the stock is getting low and I don't feel like setting it up again to cut brass. If your jig is working I may build one and use it instead.

Last year I was using a homemade wooden jig with the HF 2" cut off saw. That worked pretty well...but when I decided to buy that small metal jig from the guy on 300blktalk, it made it even faster. HF in BR has some 2" saws in stock.

I've got my pistol build and running great, but I'm still waiting on my die set to come in before I can reload for it.
I've got powder, cases, and projectiles. Really need my can to be approved also so I can really test the way I plan to use it.

I've been going at it for a few years now as well. Like others, I use the HF mini chop saw and the jig from the guy on 300blk talk. My bulk training load utilizes the Speer 125 grain TNT bullet which also happens to be a great HP bullet. I am not a hunter but others have made claims that that bullet does really well on hogs, deer and other game. I use the 8" Noveske barrel with the SDN'6 combo. In about 5k rounds, I have 2 failures that I can remember and all were attributed to mags when using heavy subs. For the subs, I am using the 220 SMK's.

    125 Speer TNT
    19.2 grains of H110/296
    COAL 2.050"
    CCI Small Rifle Primer
    LC reformed brass

    220 SMK
    11.6 grains of A1680
    COAL 2.100"
    CCI Small Rifle Primer
    LC reformed brass
*I will double check on the powder charge and get back. I am going off of memory but that sounds high for some reason.* It was 11.6g of 1680 for the subs with my AR. The 11.2 was a tad high in my handi rifle.

EDIT: Clarified the failures and changed my sub powder charge to 11.6 after looking back at my notes.

I too use the Speer 125g TNT's loaded to the same OAL(2.050)...I ordered a ton of them a while back bc for the price(.20-22 cents when I bought them) they can't be beat.
That 19.2g 125TNT load you listed...That is a pretty hot load. Do you have any pressure signs on the back of your brass when you shoot that load? I load my 125TNT "Range" ammo with 17.5g of H110 and get approx. 2100-2120fps(16" Barrel).

    Below is some results I had with Speer 125g TNT with H110/W296 / 2.050 OAL / 16" Barrel /Jan. 2014 - 45*-50* deg. Temp:
    17.0g- 5 shot avg of 2086 fps
    18.0g- 5 shot avg of 2155 fps
    19.0g- 5 shot avg of 2203 fps

Edit- From what I understand, Barnes is loading their 110g Tac-TX Black Tips with 19.3g of H110. So, it works for them. I was just curious if you saw any signs of over pressure on that 19.2g load.
I've got some 110g Black Tips loaded with 19.3g and plan to get them on the Chrono soon. When I do, I'll post the results.

I've loaded Hornady 110 Vmaxs, 125gr NBTs, 130 SOSTs, 150 gr FMJs and Tracer, 175 SMKs and 220SMKs. For plinking I grab a bandoleer of the 150gr FMJs.

When I bought my Hornady press, I got the 500 free bullets coupon. So, my cheap range plinker round is also the Hornady 150gr SP over 17.4g of IMR 4227/OAL 2.150/10 shot avg of 1864 from a 16" barrel.

When I did my load development, I didn't see pressure signs until 19.8 of H110. In the 8" barrel, I am only getting just at 2000fps with that load so the lower loads weren't an option. The higher loads that didn't show pressure were grouped in the 2" range. The 19.2 gave me less than 1" @ 50 yards with the T-1 which is plenty good enough for me and the intended use of this weapon.

My numbers with Remington UMC 115gr
    10 shot average- 1946 fps

    H110 5 shot average
    16.0- 1689 fps
    16.6- 1818 fps
    18.5- 1931 fps
    19.0- 1980 fps
    19.5- 2022 fps
    19.8- 2048 fps showed pressure
    20.0- 2013 fps showed pressure

bc of the velocity, most subs won't expand well/or at all. What subs have some of you guys used that you feel have better than avg expansion at sub-sonic velocities?

I know about the RIP Trident's...below. Cool looking stuff there...but I don't think I'll be buying any.
