At the camp this past weekend I took the girls for a ride on the ranger and came across this set of tracks. They were accompanied by a much smaller set of tracks off to the side. There were no dragging or smearing of the prints so I assume they were walking together rather than chasing each other. These were were found within 24 hours of a 6" rain at the camp so they were fresh. I didn't have anything to measure with when I took the pictures but went back with a tape and they measured right at 4" from outside to outside. The smaller set were just under 2" across. This was near Florien, La in Sabine Parish.

    Big dog and pup.

    Cats claws retract.

Bear tracks are much bigger and have five toes. 4" is no a big track.

    Bear track.

Thanks for the info. I doubted bear, was going off what others were claiming. There are so many stories told in that part of the woods. One guy even claims to have seen an African Lion crossing 191 a few years back.

I hope you don't have coydogs (the coyote/domestic dog mix) roaming around. :eek3:

They are potentially dangerous- and lack the fear of man coyotes "usually" have, when confronted. So watch out.

every camp in the country "has" a panther, a lion, and a grizzly. so take that for what its worth.

My wife's parents have them around their house, so I know the dangers. That is in the Kaplan - Lyons Point area.
