We've started a new "open sight" class at our smallbore silhouette matches in Gonzales on the fourth Saturday of every month. The targets are the same as we shoot with scopes (1/5 scale silhouette targets) at the same distances (40 meters, 60 meters, 77 meters & 100 yards). The equipment rules are completely unlimited - the only restriction is that the sights cannot contain any magnifying lens. Competitors can choose to shoot either white or black targets and targets have a yellow backstop which offers good contrast. All shots are standing.
Our silhouette shooters have enjoyed this match and believe that it will be good practice for position shooters (or anyone who has an open-sight .22 rifle) so we invite everyone to come out and try it.
