    I was there yesterday,

It's 3/4 open, Which means Shotgun,Bow, Pistol are good to go.

Rifle is still closed, The sign still maintains July 31 Something about having to build the barrows ?

    Here's a picture from yesterday.

The rifle range was still closed today, but they were working on it. What is with those huge slats of wood in front of the bench area? Looks like some sort of baffles or something. I would have taken some photos, but I didn't want to upset the guys working on it. Regardless, the days of standing up and shooting appear to be over on the rifle range. :(

Are they making it a "No Blue Sky" range?

I think I figured it out. It's these things? If so that's so lame :eh:

That is what is called a "no blue sky" baffle. It is as the name implies. From a shooters position, he can see no blue sky. In other words, he is mostly held to shooting only into the berm with no shots going over the berm. It's an effort towards making a range "idiot proof".

You've been over there to see it? How bad is it?

I doubt I'll be out there to see it before bow season opens. Joining a private range when they closed Sherb spoiled me real quick.

I saw them going up last weekend. Basically, they closed the shooting area in with them. I bet it will be loud as fawk now!

It sucks. I went there Sunday. The baffles drop down right in front of you. Loud as hell, dark, claustrophobic, no ability to shoot from a standing position. Plus, the steel resonates with every shot.

Why?! I'm lucky enough to have other places to go shoot (private property) but still like to go there from time to time. That looks like crap. No shooting from standing position! WTF oh and looks like you need a lantern hanging above you to see what's going on.
