    Imagine that....

Defense: Government suppressed evidence in Blackwater
    WASHINGTON —
Lawyers for Blackwater security guards said Monday that the government has suppressed evidence
favorable to defendants who are on trial in the killings of 14 Iraqis in Nisoor Square in Baghdad.

U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen says that "a series of innocent oversights" led to the problem.

    Whoops....

That evidence that was innocently overlooked?
-photographs of eight spent shell casings that would fit an AK-47,
(the weapon of choice used by insurgents as well as Iraqi authorities).
The attorneys said that insurgents fired on the Blackwater convoy
and that the guards returned fire in self-defense.

A court filing by the lawyers said that an Army captain took the photographs
at a bus stop several hundred feet from Nisoor Square
and that they never saw the light of day
until federal prosecutors turned them over on Wednesday. - 7 YEARS LATER -

HM, refresh my memory. Wasn't this case's embers fanned by the anti-Iraq war crowd; and more so by the democrats that voted for the Iraq war before they decided to be against it?

    Most, yes.
Elijah Cummings, Schakowsky was a few of them and a few others
even drew up bills to end all kinds or security contractors overseas
    mainly naming Blackwater.

Pretty sure it didn't pass though.

But Blackwater had some horrible timing to make mistakes.

Blackwater ran afoul of a law pertaining to a Class III dealer not being allowed to own/possess more than two of the same automatic weapon? I couldn't find this law even with Google.
