So, I have heard from a few different people that effective August 1st, people with CHL's will be able to buy guns quicker or something. How exactly does this work?

Last two guns I bought were sealed and dealed in under 10 minutes.

I wonder how many gun stores actually do know about this? My last purchase 3 weeks ago, I got the "deer in the headlights" look when I mentioned this. Apparently they were un-aware of such a thing.

Any retail firearms dealer that is unaware of a law so intrinsically related to their business core should be closed if they don't know this!

Have the Feds approved this yet?

Good question. I saw that there is a provisio in the bill that it is effective "provided that the appropriate waiver has been granted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives." Doesn't matter what the state does, it's the federal regulations that count.

Starting 8/1/14 anyone possessing a STATE issued CHP can present it to the FFL and they will not have to call in the 4473. Instead of filling out box #21 a-f you fill out #23. You still must fulfill the requirements of 20a as well.

Some parish Sheriffs give out CHP for their parish. These DO NOT fulfill the ATF requirement.
