Proper arrow weight is a function of draw length and draw weight. Using heavier arrows will likely cause the arrow to be less accurate and loose velocity much faster. There is a chart at Gold Tip's site that shows how to calculate what it should be. Probably the better approach is to choose a better broadhead for hogs.

When I bow hunted years ago I used a 145gr broadhead with the bone breaking tip. I think it was called the Terminator. In one side and out through the other bone and all. Very interesting sound that an arrow makes doing that.....

My setup is old and I can't remember specific numbers but I favor the lightest carbon arrows tipped with a medium- heavy broadhead, 140~150 grains, pushed by the heaviest draw weight possible. I think my bear pulls 90 lbs. I have also found that, for me, removing the sights from my bow helped my accuracy more than anything else. Find a setup you like and stick with it, practice until you can shoot by intuition.

The Ultimate Consumer went with Carbon Express Maixma "Red" shafts with 125gr Hellrazors.
CE is very proud of those Maxima's at $15.00 each.
However, I was very pleased with their performance.
So for every launch in a real hunt scenario I am sending $30.00 down range each time.

I shoot a lighter arrow due to the fact that im short and have a short draw (shorter arrow) but i shoot a 125g mechanical 2 blade and my arrows total 425 and no probelms for the past few years. FYI that is at 60 lbs
