I'm going the trust route, but I'm waiting on one trustee signature and he's out of town!
My question is, can I legally buy the can, then say in about a week when the trust is set up submit the paper work?
The one I want is on sale! And I'd hate to miss out on the savings

Why do you need a trustee signature? If you are listed on the trust it is fine. Unless you just had the trust made and have not had it notary stamped, etc..?

It may be on sale but, even trust right now I think I saw best turn around was just over 3 months...yeck.

So I can get it notarized
I know about the wait times, even tho I can't take possession of it I'd hate to break the law buying it before the trust is finalized!
I'm sure the answer is no, just wait the week

It would take more than a week to transfer it to a local dealer, if being bought online. Your local dealer will send in a copy of your trust. Check with local guys on here though; after paying shipping and a transfer fee, it may be cheaper or the same price to buy locally.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along later to comment, but I would order it if you have your FFL information. I haven't heard anyone lately saying how long form 3s are taking but I'm sure it's more than a week.

You can buy the can, and not fill out the paperwork yet. Just wait till you have everything together.

At least my dealers allow me to do that.
