I need a 6-9 hp outboard motor with a 20-25" shaft. Craigslist is slim pickings so I was wondering if anyone had any leads on where I could find a motor in decent shape that's not going to break the bank? http://www.onlineoutboards.com/Tohatsu-6-hp-MFS6CSPROUL.html would be perfect but no way I've got that kind of cash.

Also I have a 2.5" Yamaha I'll be putting up for sale shortly. It's just not powerful enough for my needs and the 15" shaft makes the prop come out of the water when there are waves. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll get more details from it the next time I'm at the boat.

Louisiana Sportsman but you have to be patient. There have been some used motors, in the range you are looking, that have been posted lately.

Thanks Stag, I emailed them but their inventory looks like they don't have what I need.

Been watching LA Sportsman dad-e-o but all the motors I see are old and overpriced. I'm not paying $800 for a 40 year old motor.

    Bosco,

What part of the state are you in? I've got an 80's 9.9 Evinrude I used as a kicker on a 22' Catalina. $200 if you're interested.
I'm on the Northshore/New Orleans area

I'm in Covington and the boat is in Slidell. Do you know how long the shaft is? Have any pictures or a model number? Very interested if the shaft is 20-25"

I have a 90's model 9.9HP Mariner that I'd let go of if you wanted to take a look.

    Where are you located?

    how much for the 2.5?

So the existing motor is a Yamaha F2.5MSH manufactured 02/08 with about 30 hours on it (according to the previous owner). Has a 15" shaft and is in great shape. It has a spare propeller as well.

The only issue is the choke seems to have come loose a little but it still functions 100%, just isn't 100% tight where it belongs.

The previous owner said it should be worth at least $700.

Sorry for the below pictures, they're all I have right now. I took better ones on my lunch break but my memory card died and lost them all. It's very clean underneath the cover. Will try to find take pictures this weekend.
