    So I spent mid day today doing some scouting on my lease and it is unbelievable the amount of rutting sign I found today. In addition to the many scrapes I found I also found trees up to 4-6 inches in diameter rubbed down and saplings broken off at the the 4-5 ft height level. From everything I have read this damage is caused by a buck of considerable size. Most of the rut happens in Zone 9 in January so I am really stoked at this sign I have found.

    That makes 1 for my sons youth Savage 7mm-08 and one for my Savage 11/111 7mm-08 using reduced recoil hand loads with Barnes 120g bullets and IMR 4895 powder.
