Anyone here use the La. Dept Wildlife and Fisheries range at Woodworth. I just googled it in maps and this place is beautiful. I motorcycle tent camp at Indian Creek and at Camo Claibourne I can't imagine I've never been here to shoot. I'm going to run up Thursday after lunch and check it out. I get off at !:00 and its only 1 1/2 hr drive from the house!

Less than 30 minutes from me.
I try to go shoot a terrible round of five stand there from time to time. The five stand course is very nice IMHO for $5. They also have fence top throwers you can use for free if you bring your own clays.
50 yard pistol range with target stands provided. No rapid fire no drawing from a holster.
100 yard rifle range with stands provided. No rapid fire.
Last time I was there they had a nice 3d archery range in the works.

I live in Woodworth and visit the range on a regular basis. Very nice place to shoot. They just put in nets to catch brass on the tables, helps with clean up. They provide targets and target stands, the only draw-back is that if it has rained, the ground will be wet when you go to place your target stand down range. Not a big deal, just be aware you might need some boots.
PM me if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

How come this Dept Wildlife and Fisheries range pictures look and sounds so nice and the one at Sherburne gets poor evaluations an poorly maintained?

The Wildlife and Fisheries has several facilities in Woodworth.
    Shooting range
    Archery range
    Offices
Fish hatchery, I'm sure a few more.
And is closely associated with Indian Creek Rec. Area

    Whereas Sherburne is a WMA.

Visited family in the area so we decided to shoot the archery range. It was pretty nice. All the 3d targets were in good shape and so were the larger regular targets as 10,20,30,40,50 yards. We were the only ones on the archery range but the rifle range had prolly 10 people on it. I don't like shooting at public ranges with people I don't know, but if I had to, I would want to go there.
