The majority of Moschetti M91/38 TS (special troops' carbines) 8mm conversions were used as trainers in Egypt, Syria and the UAR post-war) They were made post-war. 1953 & 1954

I picked this one up about a year ago from a friend that was culling his Carcano collection.

Interesting. So if you had time to research it what do the Arabic numbers on the barrel mean?

I see now. The stamp on the rear sight is 7.9. I was thinking at first glance they were three Arabic numbers. Never mind. That's a cool rifle. I had no idea that the Carcano was used for training in the middle eastern countries. But then Carcano's turn up just about everywhere. I know I've seen them with Japanese and Finish stamps too.

The couple of times I was at gun shows. I've looked at Carcano's. I don't own one yet and it's a hole in my collection. But the guys selling them always would say something about the Kennedy rifle. As soon as they did each time I gave it back and thanked them for their time. I don't know exactly why it bugs me. But it does.

Here is the 91/38 Carbine like the one they say Oswald used, minus the bayonet lug. Some dealers think that bringing up the Kennedy assassination will help sale the rifle. But all some dealers know about Carcanos is that Oswald used one.
