    I'm looking for a 12 ga semi-automatic shotgun.

Would really prefer a Browning, Beretta or Benelli.

There are so many models, I can't keep them straight when I read about them. I will be using it 95% for dove and maybe 5% for duck. No more than 3-5 hunts a year. Looking to spend up to $1500. I want something that looks really nice and that I can pass on to my kids.

    Any suggestions?

If you're going to use it in a duck blind, it's going to get wet, scratched, etc. I'd recommend a used Remington 1100 or 1187. I've had good luck shopping the local pawn shops for semi-autos.

I'm a general repair gunsmith and have dealt with my share of shotguns that I have sold. I've seen Remingtons , Benelli's, Mossbergs, Brownings, ECT.....come back for repair. When I sale a Berreta I take a long look at it because I'll never see it again.

I have had a Beretta 391 XTrema 2 for several years without an issue.
Honestly anything you listed will fit the bill.
Go hold and shoot as many models as you can then pick one some nice wood on it if you want to pass it down.

I have a Browning Maxus 3.5 and it is suppose to feed anything. Do not buy the 3.5 if you plan on hunting doves. It is not reliable with 1 1/8 ounce shot regardless of the brand. I sent it back to browning and it did not help. It will fail to cycle one or two times per box.

In 12ga I have a Beretta 390, Beretta 303, and a Benelli Super Black Eagle II. That is their hunting order too, the $400 dollar guns are preferred to the $1500 gun.

Avoid the 3 1/12 inch guns. They don't have anything you're looking for.

I'm a big fan of the Beretta 390. They've been out of production awhile. I haven't heard anything bad about newer Berettas, but I think they've over complicated their designs for little if any gain. New production guns if look at the Browning Gold/Silver. Reliable and extremely easy to clean and maintain.
