358 Win is a 308 cartridge necked up to 35 caliber. The 356 is the exact cartridge with a rim, 308 has a rebated rim (rim smaller than the body). This rifle will shoot either 356 or 358. Easy to make your own from 308.....just run them through the die.
Very powerful round with minimal recoil, unlike the 35 Whelen which is a 30-06 case necked up to 35 caliber. It's a great round..............but the recoil is tremendous.
