Well, I found a 45 host but decided to go with 45LC after a lucky find at a pawn shop. Sounds like a quiet paintball gun. Thanks to the guys at Action Arms in Sulphur for the thread job.

This one is not an SBR bc I didn't want to lose the tube capacity. Did have it cut to 16" though.

But I do have a Rossi ranch hand 357 incoming that will get threads, full size stock, and a tax stamp.

Aaand now that I have found out the Octane 45 is rated for 44 mag as well (16"bbl or longer) you make me want a new lever action host! Itll also handle 357 mag as well.

    Where is your front sight?

I've fired it at an indoor range, in an open field, and in the woods already today. In the open, it's super quiet. With walls or dense cover, obviously there is more report, but it's still surprisingly soft.

Front sight got removed with about 3.5" of barrel. Told the smith not to reinstall it bc I plan to put a low power scope or maybe red dot on it soon.

I've been wanting a 357 lever action for a while and now that I know my octane will work on it.... the itch... so strong.

Guess I'll hit the LC gun show today and see what I can get a bargin on.

Most standard 45LC is subsonic from a pistol, usually in the 860-950fps range with 250g lead. Out of this rifle, it must have a little more velocity. Most have been subs, but a couple have definitely cracked. I would like to find a load that keeps me right around 1000fps which shouldn't over pressure the can or the receiver.

SpencerSS, I'll use it as a brush/ truck gun for pigs and wild dogs and such.

Great setup!! 8.0 grains of Unique behind a 250 grain lead cast RNFP will give you about 850 fps, and a low chamber pressure of 11,500 cup. Plenty of knockdown and good all around load. Best of luck!
