I am looking for a good place to take the old lady. Would like a cabin, ideally close to water so we could do some canoeing and maybe some fishing. Would also like some hiking trails if possible. Been looking around on the state park websites, but wanted to get a few personal opinions. Anyone have any?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Lake Fausse Point State Park in St. Martinville has cabins on the water with docks. Good fishing, canoe rentals, lots of canoe "trails" that lead to the lake, hiking trails. Very nice place, one of my fav LA State Parks!

Up at Tunica Hills..others call it Clark Creek Natural Area just inside of MS up near Angola, the lady that owns the Pond Store has two cabins she rents out. You have donkey's ducks, and other rural critters roaming around where the pond and cabins are plus you have the Tunica Hills Trailhead 150 yards up the road.

You can find the Pond Store on Facebook and PM her about the cabins.

    Baton rouge, LA
    +1 for Chicot State Park.

We took a family trip there a few years ago. There is everything from primitive to nice cabins on the water with kitchen, shower, bunks, and big screen TVs.
