Interestingly enough, here is the current pricing of "Fresh" Venezuelan Crabmeat imported into the US.
Point of note; they have the EXACT same species of crab we have here; Callinectes sapidus (Blue Crab). Their crabmeat is generally graded larger and has almost no shells.
Jumbo Lump $14.00 lb.
Lump $7.25 lb.
Claw Meat $ 4.25 lb.
Fingers $ 9.35 lb.
Louisiana crabmeat on the other hand: Generally smaller more broken pieces, more shell fragments. Plus? Tastes slightly better out of the container!
