That was my understanding. If you want a bushmaster Windham Weaponry is where the Bushmaster people went when remington bought the rights to the name.

Yep. Remington acquired Bushmaster for the name, not for the product. Millions relate Bushmaster with an AR-15 style rifle. If you want a quality AR-15, I'd stay away from the new Bushmaster rifles.

Which is why I bought a Windham AR. I don't regret it one bit.

I would advise against getting a carry handle upper. You will wish you could remove it at some point, and as far as reselling goes, these are much less desirable to the market. Of course this could be an excellent excuse to get another one in the future when you want a flat top. But, if you really want a carry handle I would get an A3 upper with removable carry handle, best of both worlds.

I had to do some product testing 3 years ago, shot 1000 rounds out of a DPMS Oracle 5.56 and one in 7.62. 1000 rounds through each rifle in one 104 deg. TX afternoon. I can tell you that the rifles worked flawlessly. Not even a failure to feed or eject. I got the 7.62 barrel so hot I melted what I thought was a leather rest but apparently was pleather, to the forehand.
Definitely worth taking a look at. Put a Nikon P-223 3-9 BDC 600 scope with P-Series Mounts and you still have $ left over for decent ammo. I have also shot a lot of rounds through Colt's 6920 and am a fan, just never 1000 rounds in an afternoon while testing a scope mount.
