    Hi, I'm trying to find out who would be good gunsmiths that could swap a barrel out on a winchester model 70 and set headspace correctly? Doesn't have to be necessarily local. Thanks.

    I just had a friend recommend All American Gunsmithing. Says he'll never use anyone else because he likes what they do!

    I haven't used them yet, but I trust the recommendation enough to pass it along.

    couple of questions.
    Is this a post 64 action push feed action? if so then its a straight forward barrel thread and chamber job. If not then an extractor cut must be made.
    Do you already have a barrel in hand?
    What caliber are you switching too?

    Want to switch from a 270 to a 280 on a modern CRF M70. They use the same bolt face, so I'm think the only change would be the barrel. Where is all American Gun smithing? It's a four month wait for a barrel, so I'd like to have everything in order before ordering it.

    From who? X caliber ships me profiled blanks inn6 weeks, $225 to my door.

    Bolt face is the same, and the cartridges are very similar.
    Krieger is nice but they tell you 4 months, it's more like 6-7 .
    If your in a rush try x caliber , McGowan , or someone else with a shorter lead time.
