There is an extra recoil spring that came in the box with my Colt 1911. It's the Gold cup model if that matters.

Hey fella. When I had my Series 70 Gold Cup in the late 70's, it came with a recoil spring for hard ball loads and one reduced power for wadcutter type target loads. Maybe that is what it is. Just a thought. I kept the higher power standard spring in mine because all I shot was hard ball 230 gr. Enjoy your Colt.

Got me there. Mine was in a marked plastic bag. May have to install and rack the slide to get a feel for how much resistance and then install the other and do the same. Best bet may be to just get a new set of recoil springs from Wolff springs; one with the factory spring weight for hard ball full power loads if that is what you will primarily be shooting and a couple of reduced weight springs if you will be shooting wadcutter or reduced power loads. Sorry for the lack of info. This is just what I would do. Good luck.

One will have 32 coils and one will have 28.
The 32 is for standard and the 28 is for wadcutter.
    So start counting.
(Called Colt for you since their number is already in my phone. I'm a Colt collector and just had to know.)
    Happy Friday!
