Anyone carry when going to the Saenger ?
Especially for an evening/night show ?

Police have minor presence before show, but don't see any after - which is my main concern.

They had metal detectors once after the Paris shooting, but after that one time, they are no longer doing.

    Thanks
Have a good rest of weekend.

Carry a Glock, they can't be detected by the machines. You know they also shoot under water.

Ok, I just laughed out loud at reading that.

I was just down by the Saenger yesterday. I'll admit, the area around there makes one want to carry. You never know when you'll encounter BS in that part of the city now.

I think your Glock may have been printed on a LaserJet printer

Anyone been to a show there recenetly ?
I hate having to walk back to my car and lock up my gun.
Don't put in glove box - have a heavy gun case under seat with heavy cable and Master Lock to secure - no smash and grab allowed.
But if you have bolt cutters or tools to remove the front seat, you could get at it.

Anyone interested, I drive a pink Pinto - primo car.

I went to a show several years ago at the Mahalia Jackson Theater, and even the police were telling us to get in a taxi fast, because it wasn't a safe area. I believe I would carry there.

    Thanks for the info.
I was born and raised in NOLA - spent first 21 years of my life there.
Have watched it slowly degrade - not as bad as it could have, thanks to the efforts being made to keep tourists safe, but still sad to see such a great city somewhat at it's knees because of criminals.
    Anyway, thanks again for info.

    Thanks for the info.
I remember going to the entrance on either N. Rampart or Canal St. and having signs on doors.
The entrance on Basin St. did not have a sign on the door.
Which entrance did you use ?
Also, noticed the no gun signs high up on walls inside of theater.
Reminds me of Waffle House no gun signs 30 feet up on the outside of the building - where everyone will immediately see them.
Will be going again right after Christmas.
Again, thanks very much for the update.

I walked in the Canal Street doors and out the doors on the north side. I also looked at the south side doors, didn't see any, as I passed them on the way to the head. I had previously seen the signs, for Lion King maybe. Don't recall signs inside the theatre itself.
    Thanks for the info.

Great, thanks again for the info.
The Mayor came up with some new firearm "laws" that even he said would not reduce crime.
Think they will just hinder law abiding carriers.
Unless I missed something, does not sound like much of anything was done in a positive way.

These tickets were bought months ago. I'm trying to wean myself off of Orleans Parish activities in general.

I'm born and raised NOLA - spent 21 years there - would not live in the city on a bet, even on the lakefront.
Have seen it go down over time.
I really hate going there, but unless the Saenger moves and I want to see performances there, I guess I'll have to go.
In the words of Mayor Marion Barry, if you discount the murders, Washington DC is a very safe place to live (pesky murders)
I guess it's true, it's not what you say, but how you say it.

I think a Glock 7 is made out of Porcelain, so if they do have metal detectors, no one will know.

I Was there a couple months ago, no metal detectors.

Thanks for the update on metal detectors.
    We go maybe 2-3 times/year
Only time i remember metal detectors in the last few years was after the incident in Nice, France.
My thoughts - prepare for something AFTER something happens ?
    Then don't prepare anymore ?

I went earlier this year. They had NOPD at the front with metal detectors. Everyone was wand. As I walked up I told them I was a police officer and had a firearm on my ankle. They said okay and motioned me to walk through and enter.
