If that's Iron Planet/ Gov Planet most sales are in the $20,000-$30,000 range for something somewhat decent but still rough and running. Also I haven't seen many located within 400 miles. I still cannot get a sure answer if La will register it for on road use.

For being news, they are a couple of years behind current events.
If the engine starts, expect the bidding to be about $5-8000. Trucks that start and move under their own power will be $6-12,000. You have to agree that the vehicle is for off-road use only, and wait a couple/few months for the gov't to clear you to take possession after you pay for it. The gov't title (form SF-97) is stamped "OFF-ROAD USE ONLY". You might get it registered for the highway somehow, but the state can revoke that registration later (several states have done so), and the Fed Gov't can always demand the vehicle to be returned to them if they decide so (through the End-Use Certificate that you have to submit).
You pays your money and takes your chances. If you can't afford to loose all your money and end up with a pile of scrap, I would recommend not buying one. If you can afford to play around and take the risks without impacting your finances, by all means buy one and have fun. If you have a 50,000 acre open ranch in west Texas, a Hmmwv is perfect, but if you own a rice farm or tree farm, they are not as handy as a new 4-wheeler or side-by-side. In my opinion, on the highway, they drive like a pig rather than a gazelle.
