    Thanks all!

Congratulations! I bet it put a smile on her and your face that will remain for a long time! What rifle and scope was she using?

Oh it did! He 16yo sister was with us and she hasn't taken a shot at one yet. She's wanting to get one with a bow though. The gun is a Savage Youth Trophy 11 with the package Nikon 3-9X40. I tried the lighter 85gr Nosler Partitions but could not find a good load. The gun just did not like them. It stacks the 100gr hornadys at just about any velocity though.

Good deal! I have heard the .243 likes the "heavier" bullets depending on the barrel twist rate.

She has been shooting a Savage Rascal 22 with open sights a good bit lately and I think it's really helped her with her control.

Congratulations! More kids need to learn to appreciate the outdoors, hard work, and respect for nature. Good job Dad!

Well said and I'll add its healthy for kids to understand where meat comes from and how it stops being a living breathing animal and becomes food.

Way to go!! My 9-year old will make his 1st hunt this season with me -- our season starts on the Oct 29th. He's a skinny little fella, He shot the 243 with a regular load last week -- hopefully we have the same outcome!
