4 days from submission to approval. Apparently having my prints in several different agencies may be good for something.

Submitted mine beginning of August and still waiting. I called to check and was given the link to pay and that was about two weeks ago.

    EDIT: Renewal CHP.

I would venture to say the fastest LA. CHP ever would be measured in hours rather than days.

Has anyone successfully renewed their CHP online, at the new military veteran rate (free!). According to some people at the re-certification class I took today, the state website had not been able handle the no charge military fee and the applications had to be mailed in. Reading the quick online turn-around that people here have experienced, I wonder if the website has been fixed for that to work yet?

The online part did ask me for a DD-214 so I think it's working now. Payments are collected after submission is reviewed so I guess if your 214 is valid you don't get asked to pay.

I believe that only applies to active military. Those I spoke with at HQ said the fee for former military with Honorable Discharge is $62.50.

The vets fee change has just been effective since Aug 1, 2016.

This directly from the Legislative News section of the LSP CHP Unit website "The passage of Act 44 of the 2016 Regular Legislative Session (Effective August 1, 2016) amended and reenacted R.S. 40:1379.3(W), relative to concealed handgun permits; to exempt honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. armed forces from all fees associated with 5-year or lifetime concealed handgun permits. This Act doesn’t affect currently active military personnel. Active duty personnel remain eligible to receive the half price discount with a copy of your most recent orders".

Hopefully the kinks will work their way out of the system soon. The no-fee is much appreciated by an old retired shooter. I think I will try the online renewal and submit my DD-214 first. Worst case will be hard copy followup. Thanks for thoughts.
