-- like these little pieces of history. Wife decided to stay the night with her mother last night and I had some unexpected time on my hands. Got the Garands out last week for a reunion so I thought it would be a good time to look over the Carbines, and get reacquainted with them also.

Nice collection ... the surprising thing with all them is that there are only two Inlands! (We both knows those are the easiest ones to get!) Well done, Sir!

Is this a good thing, or a bad thing

Also, how the heck can you tell from the pictures, the little white tags??

From a collector standpoint, an untouched WWII gun will have more value. For a shooter, the post war changes provide better sights. The way that you can tell from the pictures is really easy. WWII carbines do not have bayonet lugs. Also, these have adjustable sights rather than the WWII "L" style flip sight. Much like M1 Garands, most USGI carbines have been through an arsenal rebuild at least once in the last 65 years. This doesn't detract from them as they are all "original". Finding a 65 year old US rifle that has all of its original parts, however, is relatively rare and collectors will pay a premium. I am not a carbine collector. I have one Inland that was rebuilt post war. It rarely sees the light of day. I would much rather shoot my Garands. The OP has plenty of both which is the way it should be.

Nice collection, BTW, do you have any "coded" receivers?

Wow! That's very nice. Have you noticed if any brand shoots better? If so Which one shoots best?
I would like to have a collection of type writer makers.

Since your wife doesn't know about these...it would only take a Rock O La and an Inland or two to keep it that way :).

Nice group of carbines there. Thanks for sharing.

The first words out my mouth were "What the f***?". Maybe it's my practical side or my inclination to mix things up a little, but I can't see myself having 19 of the same gun. One from each maker... sure. But damn. To each his own I suppose...

I have an Inland M1 carbine my father bought back about 1956. It is in original WW II configuration with flip rear sight and type I narrow barrel band. No indication it was arsenal rebuilt but the stock may have been replaced.
