Defensive Handgun Training?

Seems like there is some great shotgun and carbine/rifle training coming to town. What about handguns? I've been considering Thunder Ranch for a while, but would much rather do something local if possible.

pangris, or anyone else know of any good defensive handgun courses in the area? Could we set one up like you guys are doing with the shotgun/rifle stuff?

Well you missed a great one last year that Pangris set up. Shotgun and carbine are scheduled this year. If you take the shotgun course many of the tactics will translate to pistol.

Precision offers basic defensive handgun courses. Can't attest to the quality of them.

Eh...I'm not a huge fan of shotguns to be honest. Unless someone has a nice Saiga 12 they'd want to lend me.

It's not really about the shotgun. It's about learning the mindset of being a combat shooter and learning new innovative training techniques that could apply to any weapon. I know for a fact Awerbuck likes to use negative targets which I'm interested in trying out. After taking the class last year my practice techniques changed dramatically.

And yes, there are loaner shotguns available. Or a perfectly suitable Mossberg 500 can be had at local pawn shops for about $150 (less than the ammo cost). I don't think a Saiga 12 would be practical for this class.
