i was oc my new 1911 when i was confronted by two deputys and a security guard.i guess i should have kept ocing my p-11 because no one noticed for the past couple of months.;) i wish places would just put up a sign or just tell you directly.no need to get the law involved.i had been in there 15 minutes, walk past a deputy once, bought a cd,had deputy ask if i was law said no and i had no idea of mall policy on carry.he said he didnt know about oc but walked away talking on his radio.the whole time i was still armed and no i.d. check.15 minutes later he walks up again with another deputy who knows oc is legal inform me on no gun policy then they disarm me walk me to my car then run my i.d.2nd deputy tells me i should get my permit,i said would it have made a diffrence if he saw my gun? no.so why spend money for the permit? well if you can afford the gun ....i said 1st i should'nt have to pay for my rights.2nd i put the gun on layaway to get it and 3d if i need money i can sell it.things i cant do with a permit.now i understand the whole officer safety but why wait til a 2nd verbal encounter and 1 prior visual to disarm me if i was a threat for the amout of time i was in there?they could'nt just walk me to my car armed without id check and not make a scene like i was doing something illegal?there must not have been a safety concern before.

Welcome to the world of OC, .............

I would ALSO recommend getting a permit, dont look at it as in "I am buying my rights", but you could have had a good time today while shopping and helping out local economy instead of being escorted out like a criminal and then having your time and the Deputies time wasted on running a check on you, it also gave you a bad taste in your mouth "obviously" otherwise you wouldnt have taken the time to post this.

So in my opinion there are way to many good reassons why to get one compared to why not to get one, then again peoples circumstances change and the way we see the world.

Make sure you let YALE know about it though, I believe he has a list of places that OC is not permited and if he doesnt have the mall then they can add it.

i thought about OCing the other day at Southland Mall... remember that it's private property, but we can respectfully ask the landlord to change his/her stance on personal protection

if i move and my shirt comes up or the out line of my gun could been seen through my cloths.free class is nice but that still doesnt help with the cost of renewel every 4 or 5 years.i'm no expert but i dont need a class on basic fire arm safety or use.i served 4 years in the navy, trained to use mossberg 500 and berrta m-9.now if a class were more advance i would attend,if i could affort it.i still dont think i should pay anything to protect myself or family.i dont pay the police for responding to a call i make to them so why should i pay?

If you don't take him up on the free class, I sure would love to. Regardless if it was a basic class or advanced class. You may have served 4 years in the Navy and I thank you for your service to our country, but that in no way makes you superior in any way. I know of average joe, competition, and instructors that will blow your mind with what they can do.

By the way, if you can't scrounge up $125 every 5 years to renew your license. I suggest you do better things with your time, rather than trying to exercise your right to OC.

Just so we know what we are talking about. As my calculator has it, $125 every 5 years is $.48 a week.

That's less than two quarters per week.

You can pay for the renewal with the change on the top of your dresser.

i never said i was superior,i just dont need a class on the basics.i dont understand why people are willing to pay for there rights.would you pay for your right to free speech, how about freedom of expression by buying a permit to say or do what you want legaly?so why pay for my right to bear arms?i'm not playing the victim. if i'm not commiting a crime then why dont the police just leave you alone? i dont purposely carry in front of police or trying to "get a new motorcycle".if your concealed carry weapon is exposed in any way then the same thing would happen as when you open carry so whats the advantage any way?now if this state were like a few others and concealed were free i would do so.

i just thought of something. if those of you who support carry permits call me a victim then are you going to be a victim when we have to have a permit just to own a gun or are going to pay ".48 a day" to own one.if your going to keep letting the goverment put more gun laws on the books whose to say this wont happen?

So did the Navy cover any of the Louisiana gun laws? I was Army Infantry and shot everything up to a 90mm RR and not once did anybody say anything about La. laws.

If you don't want to pay go to your local Sheriff and tell him you want a free concealed carry permit since it's your right. It will be free.

    "Respectfully" ?

    Hell no.

Tell them plainly that you and your money will go where your Constitutional rights are respected.

Let's all quit helping our enemies.
