The best (worst) one of these I EVER overheard was at a gun show years ago in Tyler, Texas. Two knuckle dragging inbreds were pawing at a rack of AR-15's and one of them said to the other "This gun fahrs that spinning bone tracer bullet ya know".

The guy looking at my LWRC at the gun show, "I have one just like that, I've done all kinds of stuff to it. I have about $1,100 in it now." My response, "This one retails for $2,400, and the scope with mount cost over $1,000." And he says, in muttered zwahili, "oh, uh, well that's a nice gun."
theres even the people who know enough to assume that just because my AK origin is from romania, that all romania AKs are crap...because there is a wasr 10/63 imported by CAI for $400 and it may or may not have canted sights.

Heard this one recently near the gun counter at Academy
me: "will y'all be getting in any more of the federal .223 ammo in the thirty caliber ammo cans?"
salesperson: "uh, we only stock that in 5.56"
me: "federal ammo is made here in the states, it's ok to call it by it's American name"
salesperson: "huh?"
me: "what you're calling five point five six is a caliber designed (or bought) by Remington, so it's called two twenty three remington"
salesperson: "no sir, we don't sell that"
