My two boys, 12 & 13, want Airsoft guns for Christmas.

Where is the best place to get decent guns in the $100-$200 range?

Academy has some in the $100 range, are those any good? Or should I step up to something else?

Looking for a AEG (Automatic Electric Gun), probably AR15 style, around 300 FPS.
    Just for backyard play.

    Other online sources I found:
    http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/Airsoft-Guns-AEG-s/3.htm
    http://www.airgundepot.com/aeg-airsoft-rifles.html

    Are these good sources?
Are these guns better than Academy or Walmart guns?

    Thanks.

I know nothing about them except that the better ones can sting the crap out of you. My next door neighbor's kid shot me with one and even through the jeans it hurt. I took it away from him and went full auto on his bare belly :) But yea, Pyramyd Air is good for that sort of stuff. Most likely the best prices and really good service. I used to buy alot of airgun stuff from them when I was into adult air rifles.

** OH YEA, don't forget the eye protection. Pyramyd has a good selection of that to. Good luck.

The best and most realistic ones are by KWA. They make one that is a Glock clone and is a lot of fun. There is a place in Covington that carries a large selection. It's called Gunfighter Paintball: http://www.gfpb.net/

+1 for gfpb, I used to play speedball/paintball for them. They no their **** when it comes to airsoft and paintballs.

I have a all metal beretta m9 replica that runs on green gas. It is fun to play with and accurate enough to shoot wasp from 10-15'. I have had it a few years and it still runs fine. Green gas is a little pricey.

I use to run the M&p clones from academy. They run off co2 and come with a 15 round mag. Co2 is cheap. Also had an ak47 from academy. It was all metal and bad ass. Shot full or semi. It stung pretty good.It would leave severe welps at 20'+ Maybe to much for kids but if you want one it's fun. I used it to keep rodents away without waking the neighbors. It has killed several possums. (hit em in the head).

My son was asking for the same thing for Christmas. I got lucky and found someone on craigslist selling a G&G raider gr15. http://www.guay2.com/web/gt_product/tr15.php?lang=en It is all metal, electric/spring driven, and has blowback to simulate realism. They make cheaper versions of all of the accessories for the normal AR's for them also. I've only got to play with it once but was pretty bad ass. One thing I did find is to get one that you can adjust the pellet spin. It allows you to adjust the spin on the bb to compensate for a rise or drop once it leaves the barrel. The one that I have is pretty accurate for about 50-60 feet. Which is fine for us since that is the extent of our back yard and we have people that live behind us. Also you can get bio-degradeable bbs so that they don't make a huge mess in the back yard.

Thanks for all the advice and information.

I got this one on ebay:

And I ordered two of these yesterday:
    http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=11845
    airsoft_JGW_JM4_Aa.jpg

They are on sale for $120 with a limit of 1 per customer so my wife and I each ordered 1.
They also have a coupon code for 20% off plus free shipping and a free t-shirt.
Batteries and charger was separate and I got an extra mag for each gun plus 8,000 bbs.

I have about $150 average in each gun total.
Regular price is $170 for the M4 (no battery, 1 mag) or $210 for the SBR (with battery and charger, 1 mag).

AirsoftGI and Airsoftmegastore seem to be the two best online places to get new ones. PM me if you want a LNIB Cybergun FAMAS.
