Has anybody seen these? A friend told me something and said they were available at Cabela's. A pistol that fires 7mm or some kind of rifle round, it looks like.

Any info would be appreciated 'cause it looks interesting.

Yes a FN 57 is what I've found. I saw a YouTube video of a guy shooting one, but none of the target. I found parts and accessories for a FN57 at Cheaper Than Dirt's website ... but no pistol! Just more curious than anything.

Go to FN's website for info. Or google Fn 5.7

Kinda plasticy IMO, low recoil impulse so very easy to shoot. Ammo is ap for the "good guys". the rest of us get stuck with hp or fmj ammo that is not much better than 22mag. I guess this gun has its place, not sure where that is though.

Also look up the p90 / ps90 bullpup gun that takes the same round. Kinda cool (the SBR or MG version). Civi-ok carbine looks funky with the 16" barrel.

Here is something I found at a site: (italicized parts mine)

    Five-seveN
    SLIDE

    Polymer slide cover

    Rear cocking serrations
Adjustable three-dot target sights or fixed three-dot combat sights

    BARREL

Cold hammer-forged steel with chrome-lined bore
    Chrome plated chamber and bore
    4.75" barrel on all models

    FRAME

Flat dark earth or matte black ergonomic polymer frame
    Rugged polymer construction
    Checkered grip
    Under frame accessory mounting rail
    Serrated trigger guard

    OPERATING CONTROLS

    Fully-ambidextrous manual safety levers
    Reversible magazine release button

Sounds almost like the Taurus revolver I have with a "chrome-lined bore." And what's up with a polymer slide cover? I see where your "plasticy" comment comes from. I guess I need to tell my friend it might not be all he seems to be thinking it is.

    Thanks for the input.
