Wow, i know this is an old thread but thank you guys! I was just hitting here first in my search to find a good cleaning kit.
Lousianacarry, thanks for the video. It was very informative and i really like that case you have there.

I recently scored one of these from Midway. It is PERFECT for the M1 Garand, in conjunction with a muzzle/bore guide that self-centers on the muzzle/gas piston cover (not included; got that some place else- Brownell's, I think).

This rod is, IMO, even better than a Dewey. The cushion-grip handle is massive, and the bearings are obviously much larger and more numerous.

Pricey, but I caught it "on sale" for thirty bucks. Sometimes it pays to actually READ the ad flyers they send to your e-mail...

If it were me I'd roll with the dewey in a Mike Lucas bore guide. I don't think anyone can recommend a better bore guide than the one ol Mike puts out.
