Yea, stupid question I know...hammock measures 8ft hook to hook. Seems like posts should be 8 ft apart. Or should it be 7ft 6 for a lil sag to be comfy? I'm sure someone here has an answer.

Go longer by at least 2 feet on each side, longer is okay, and then use a rope or chain to adjust; sag, height, and tension. If you are setting posts in the ground set them on an angle way from the hammock and make sure they are high enough so it doesn't hit the ground when you lay in it. Look at a bunch of images on the internet.

Depends on the hammock, but the ends should typically be 30 degrees from the ground.

ENO recommends the same for my double nest.

The hammock is going to stretch a little, so you might consider spacing the posteses (plural for post) a bit farther apart by a foot or two.

    Maybe.

Definitely make sure that the post are angled out with the hooks ten or eleven feet apart with a 2' chain on each end

Ok....I'm using 4x4 buried 3 ft. 30 degrees seems like alot.

You don't necessarily need to angle the posts if the foundation is strong enough. You may need more than 3 feet, though. Assuming a typical soil strength factor for South Louisiana, I can calculate the minimum depth for you. Tell me, how heavy is your wife?
