    What you wanna do with it? Light bullets or heavy bullets. 9mm is easy to load for. Plenty of powder choice. In the Winchester line WSF and AutoComp. Hodgdon has HS-6, CFE-Pistol, Clays, Tightgroup and many others. Alliant has Bullseye, Unique, PowerPistol. For accurate line you can use AA-2, AA-5 or Competition and Silohuette from Ramshot.
    Figure what bullets you want to play with and the look in the loading for a powder that you can use for several of them.

    Mine is VV N320. No it's not the cheapest but it is clean and just works. The lot you get today is going to shoot like the lot you get 5 years from now.

    Do give my bud beauxdog a call. He can steer you in the right direction depending on your application.

    As beauxdog said, the 9mm is (relatively) easy to load and there are so many quality powders available right now. It's already soft recoiling, but if you want even softer recoil, try AA2, Red Dot or Competition. Can tolerate a bit more recoil, AA5, Silhouette HS6 are fantastic.

    I started using red dot because it was all I had during the powder shortage and Ill keep using it. When one pound will load over 2000 rounds it makes you feel good.

    I have been using TiteGroup for a while now and I like it, but I prefer Winchester 231. W231 has been hard to come by as of late though.

    Forgot where, but I read somewhere that they are phasing out WW231 in favor of SuperTarget and SuperField. They are easier and cheaper to make.

    HP38 IS 231. No need for Hogedon to sell the same powder under two different lables.
    When Hodgdon took over the distribution of Winchester powders it created this weird situation where the exact same powder is sold under two different labels. The difference is name only. You can verify this by going to http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/, click Pistol, then select 9mm Luger. At the right select HP38 and WW231, then Get Data. Every single load is identical between HP38 and WW231.

    The same holds true for H414 and WW760. Verify by selecting .308 Winchester at the Hodgdon site. Also H110 and WW296 are the same. Verify by selecting 300 AAC Blackout or 454 Casull.

    HP38 = 231
    H414 = WW760
    H110 = WW296
