Why would you be nervous? The rifles were re-arsenaled after their last use, and all parts checked for wear. I have a couple M39's and I have no worries about shooting them. Remember these are bolt-action rifles, not semi-autos. I've never heard of one of these failing except under a double-load situation, and that's pretty much up to you to prevent if you reload. The Mosin-Nagant design is a fully hooded and supported bolt-face, so even a complete case rupture going all the way to the primer should not cause a receiver failure.
Really I've been collecting these things for years, and reading volumes of information about them, and never once has a receiver/bolt failed. I saw one that had a plugged barrel, and the receiver split, but even then the bolt lugs held.
