Left Handers and weapon mods to accomidate
I have a SS mini-14 factory folder. Everything about it is right handed. Up to and including the sling swivels. Has anyone tried adding pieces or parts to this weapon that would allow left handed carry without actually modifying the weapon itself? For the front, I tried adding a small piece of 1/8" stainless plate to the screws under the gas block cap. It might work but not totally satisfied. Any help out there? Thanks

In the past, gun manufacturers have completely neglected the LH market but things are getting better. DPMS & Stag make left ejecting ARs and Remington, Browning, Savage, etc. usually offer a model or two with a LH bolt. Best I can tell stores like Academy never stock any type of LH guns. On occasion, Cabelas will have a few LH rifles.
As for the Mini-14, it is pretty LH usable in stock configuration but I have never tried a folding stock on mine.

Thank you sir. I am aware of the left handed weapons out there. Believe me when I say that I have researched the crap out of left handed anything. I have left handed bolt rifles, mostly remingtons. I have a left handed stag and plan on purchasing a left handed stag piston upper when they are made available. A left handed 870. A left handed 1100 a modified 10/22 to a left handed thumbhole and list goes on.The reason I bought the mini was because of its rarity. My mini-14 has the factory folding stock that folds around to the right side of the weapon. the sling swivels are on the left side of the weapon. To my knowledge, Ruger no longer makes a factory folding mini-14 so I want to keep the weapon in its original condition but want to configure it for left handed sling carry

Two options that don't require permanent modification...
I have used blackhawk single piont sling adapters and they work well.
I was recently suggested by Gomez to use these aircraft grade screw key rings. I have a few and some more on the way that I'm going to try.

Btw, my opinion on left handed controls might be a bit radical but...
I had a fully ambidextrous AR that I sold/parted out and built two "standard" ARs. My thought process is that I want muscle memory that will be compatible with 99% of guns on the market, not < 2%...
That said, if you want to go ambi, get the ambicatch mag catch, norgon , badger ambi-charging handle and probably that magpul BAD would work as a good ambi bolt catch/release.

Thank you Spanky. I went to your links and found possibilities. I like possibilities! I am sure there are tons of different things out there that would make my left handed life a little easier, I just dont know how or where to find them. Thanks again.
