This makes a lot of sense. A BC is only needed on the street when questioned by LE. If a felon gets caught with a handgun, then it is jail for the felon. Felon's rarely apply for permits, so the current system is a waste when you can catch the felon on the street.
The best part is that the citizen only has to simply obey the law. 99.09% of people do not commit felonies.

I spoke with a friend of mine that lives in Maine the other day, he was telling me about this. The big win for Maine residents is now if you decide to open carry (which was previously legal) your alowed to have the gun loaded, whereas before you were not alowed to even have a loaded mag in the weapon!

The Maine governor signed that bill this week and I think there are now 7 states where you can conceal carry. Mississippi almost joined the list this year but you have to carry it in a bag off of your body. Maybe next year they can get the state count up into the double digits that allow it.

I doubt that Louisiana will join the list anytime soon though.

The same as MS's and other states = loss of revenue. The agencies in charge of the permits will always fight it and come up with a multitude of reasons to the state legislatures why it is a bad idea because they don't want to loose the jobs and revenue.

They could solve the tax issue by issuing carry permits at the gun counter with a 4473...barely more work than a fishing/hunting license. This is the way it SHOULD be...like buying a suppressor...just a 4473 and a tax...win win win.

I hope Maine still offers a CCW permit. Its hard to have receprical rights in other states when you don't have one from your home state.
