I have been keeping up with some of the recent threads on reloading basics as well and doing some research on what might be right for me. Like most of you I have a desire to get into reloading but may not be sure where to get started. Many members on this thread as well as many sites on the web suggest the Dillon 550B model. Here are some videos I found that I thought were very well put together. He explains the process at a beginners pace and does a good job of explaining himself. All the while teaching safety practices as well. This may help some of you as I feel it has helped me grasp a better understanding of how to set up a progressive reloading machine. If any of the members here take the time to watch these videos and find something BLAINTLY WRONG OR UNSAFE about his procedures please pass that information forward as I (just trying to get started) do not want to use wrong information or techniques and would not know any better.

Bump due to all the recient questions about reloading. If you are looking to get into pistol reloading do yourself a favor and get a progressive. The 550B is a great choice because you have to manually index the shell plate. Auto indexing when just starting can be a little more complicated and the cost would be greater for that type of press. All I have ever used has been the Dillon 550B but I am glad I took the advice of the majority and bought that press. It has more than served my needs. I also will be getting some dies for rifle calibers in the near futrue. This press handles all common rifle calibers as well. Go to brianenos.com and look up the FAQ on dillion reloading. It should answer most of your questions.

+1 on Brian Enos and his site being an absolutely great resource.

Brian also has a great DVD on reloading for competition. Features a 650 but the info is applicable to 550s as well. Available from his Web site and highly recommended.

Dillon offers very useful videos for sale on setting up and running each of their presses...a good investment for newbie reloaders when they buy their press.

Barney, Thanks for the vids. They are great. If relaoding more than 100/week, the D-550 is the best way to go. A Really good machine and company.
