Looking for info on CX4 carbine

How are they, any drawbacks. How easy to switch from lefty to right handed?

I have one in .40 and I'm a lefty. Funnest gun I've ever shot. If you add an eotech it is extremely easy to shoot. My young bro in law and wife who had never shot a gun were laying them in the bullseye freehand the first time they shot it.

It really points easily and instinctivly. The only negative is the trigger is a little stiff but it losens up as you pump rounds through it, which is the other negative if u call it that (you will want to burn up some ammo).

As far as lefty/righty, you can switch it back and forth in about 2-3 mins. It just a matter of field stripping it and reassembling it. The brass ejecting really isn't an issue no matter which way you assemble it. You can order a 2nd charging handle sonthe you have one on either side so easy to shoot lefty or righty (this is what I did and it works nicely). You can switch the safety but it takes a few more steps then the charging handle and ejection but not real difficult.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I've never had this issue no matter which side the brass ejected and no matter who was shooting it. Another poster here (barney88) has one also and hasn't had this issue. Maybe it was due to the .45 or ammo type. Barney's and mine are both in .40.

I bought the 9mm version when it first came out. Switching from right/left eject is easy but reversing the safety & mag release requires a bit more work.

This is the gun on my mind for my wife. We enjoy shooting alot and I shoot .40 and .223. She shoots 9mm and I thought this would potentially be better that a 9mm AR. All of you are helping to convince me. Shoalsfugro: Thanks for the thread.

The CX4 is light & handy. It would make a great rifle for your wife. Mine is 9mm and takes M9/92FS magazines which are readily available.

I started looking at a lefty ar for a family member and this was a great option, my main would be just a fast ejection side change not a full switch when they are shooting with me. Thanks for the input I have seen a few new from $650.00 is that a fair price.

I saw em on gunbroker.com. (4) 20 rnd mags for $80. Seems a little reasonable. Are there any in the BR area to pick up and look at?
