This looks more like a re-loading accident than chinese ammo. My experience has been more weak ammo or even non firing ammo when I po-boy'd it with cheapo ammo, and have seen people blow the primers out when they reloaded
But there is some damage up on the barrel that leads me to beleive this gun was dropped. Anyway, I have trouble beleiving anything I get on the internet anymore.

A guy came into the PD the other day to ask a favor.
He had a S&W 629 (44 Mag.) that he wanted to dispose of after a mishap at the range.
He said there was a loud bang when he tested his new ammo, (Chinese made), and the gun smacked him in the forehead, leaving a nice gash.
When the tweety birds cleared, this is what he saw ...

Bet he never uses Chinese made Ammo again!

Saw something similar as a "what not to do" example of using +P+ ammo in a revolver not rated for it. Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt.

Also a firm reminder of why to wear good eye protection when shooting.

Ive seen this a few times, and have always had my opinions.

IMO, I would bet money that this was a handloader who got a bit too courageous.

When "normal" people load .44Mag, they use cheap lead bullets, not high dollar JHP bullets. Since this has a 6" barrel, I would bet that the guy was trying to get a bit more "umph" out of it for hunting/self defense, until he realized that the gun wasn't a Blackhawk.

Also, I've never known any Chink manufacturers to load .44. I don't even think PPU loads .44

Either way, sucks to be him.

The cylinder looks like it was cast metal to me but then again my eyesite isn't real good.

I have read other articles on the S&W's doing this.
