CLIFF’S NOTES to last minute info- read this before ordering (more detail edited in below)-

You can start sending money now.

We are also ordering Pmag Ranger base plates, so if you want some of those, add that to your order.

Add twenty cents to each item to cover the shipping costs that I am going to have to pay Brownells.

Money order is preferred, or you can call, email or PM me a card number (no AmEx).

Brownells says we might get the bulk of our order in as little as six weeks (but do NOT hold me or them to that- if you cancel your order, you will cover my cost to return your money).

OD and Foliage MAY take longer- you need to cinfirm that you understand that before I place your order.

The sooner we get our money in, the sooner we will get our mags, so don’t drag your feet more than you have to.

When you submit your payment, include exactly what you are ordering, your shipping address and your screen name if you want your mags!

Do me a favor, guys- when you submit payment, please do your math on paper for me, so I can more easily check that everything is correct. That will probably save me a few hours of detail work.

Ok, this started as a half baked idea at five in the morning the other day, and exploded. Original thread is here: ARFCOM thread

Pmags are the way to go, and it is a stated goal of the up and coming Pres. admin to enact another AWB. We want to get as many standard capacity mags into the hands of the citizenry as possible, as soon as possible. This is not panic buying, just trying to group together and get mags (at a discount). AWB or not, mags are always a good thing.

Anyway, it looks like we may be ordering up to maybe $20,000 in PMAGS. Here is the page for the items to choose from: Brownells

Is this a scheme for LA Carry to make some money?

No, I am passing on the wholesale costs of the mags I am getting from their site, and only charging actual shipping. I am doing all this because I believe in getting mags into the hands of AR owners. However, this is a big drain on my already pressed schedule, so I do accept tips. If anyone wants to throw in a little extra so I can buy a few extra mags or something- that would be great. Don't feel pressured, though- just mentioning it.


This idea started on AR15.com, why has it moved to an LA web site?

Arfcom has a set of rules for "official group buys" on their site, which this will not qualify for, because their buys have to be for in stock items, and NO ONE has anywhere near the amount of mags we need to buy in stock.

TRY TO USE YOUR SCREEN NAME FROM ANOTHER SITE TO AVOID CONFUSION.

It would be very helpful if you join here, instead of trying to do this by PM on another site.


How much are the mags?

Prices in black are MSRP, prices in blue are the “cash” prices, not counting shipping.

After a bit of consideration, I am not accepting Paypal- Money Order is the preferred method.

If you need to, you can pay by credit card (PM me your CC info, or you can call me, but PM is preferred). If you are paying by CC- you will need to add 4% +$1.00 to your TOTAL order (including all shipping charges) to cover the discount I have to pay for manual transactions- I am not making anything on this, so I cannot afford to pay those fees out of pocket.


Additionally, you will need to add $0.20 for each mag to cover the shipping I will have to pay to Brownells for them to ship them to me. I cannot get an exact cost on that from them, because they do not know exactly how many mags will be in each shipment (and thereby how many shipments I will need to pay shipping on), but I get the impression that it will cost at least $0.10 each. In order to avoid future confusion and hassle, we really need to just estimate it a little high, so I don’t end up paying a hundred or so dollars out of my own pocket (again, since I am not marking up the mags).

What is the wait time?

Here is the deal. I called Magpul, and they are so behind they are not accepting new dealers, and are not even selling mags on their web site anymore. They told me Brownells and a couple other names as being their biggest buyers, and that they have orders going out to them weekly. I talked to the three big distributors, and Brownells seems to be the way to go.

I am going to order as many as we need, and as they come in each week, Brownells is going to send them to me, however fast Magpul can make/ship them. We are going into this knowing that these are a back ordered item- the idea is to distribute them as soon as they are produced, however long that is.

NEITHER I NOR BROWNELLS ARE EVER GOING TO OFFER EXACT DATES ON A BACKORDER- WE CAN ONLY EXTRAPOLATE FROM MAGPUL'S CURRENT PRODUCTION/SHIPPING FREQUENCY HOW LONG THE ORDER IS LIKELY TO TAKE TO BE FILLED-- IF PEOPLE ORDER THROUGH THIS AND THEN START COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WAIT, I WILL BE MIFFED-- IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO WAIT DO NOT ORDER-- THIS IS A BACKORDER SITUATION AND WE ARE DOING THIS BECAUSE WE WANT OUR ORDERS IN THE PIKE SO THAT WE CAN TRY OUR BEST TO HAVE AS MANY MAGS AS WE CAN AFFORD BEFORE ANY FUTURE POSSIBLE LEGISLATION!!!

If you cancel your order, I will use part of the money to cover a money order & postage to return your money (if you paid my M.O.), or refund it to your CC (also charging the 4% + $1 AGAIN. That is not a penalty, just covering the costs.

How much is shipping?

I grabbed some flat rate boxes at USPS, and it looks like (not counting packaging) the standard Flat Rate box will fit 15) 30 round mags, and the Large Flat Rate box will fit 25 mags. If I remember correctly, the regular box is $9.80 and the large is $12.95. If you get 20 round mags, obviously a few more will fit. So:

Up to and including 15 mags: $9.80
16-25 mags: $12.95

If you are getting more than 25 mags, you can estimate shipping on USPS and send that in, instead of the shipping costs listed below (faster), or wait until the mags start coming in, and I will get an exact quote to you, and you can send the $$ then (slower).

If a few of you live near each other and want to combine shipments, that is fine, as long as you post it here and PM me. You will still need to add twenty cents per item, but would pay less shipping from me to you.

Also- if the postage goes up at USPS between now and the time your shipment goes out, you will be responsible for the difference- I am not making anything on this, so I cannot afford to cover increases.

IF YOU ORDER MORE THAN ONE SKU AND THEY COME IN AT SEPARATE TIMES- you will have to decide whether you want to pay me to ship them as they arrive (extra $$) or wait and send them together.

If you want tracking or insurance, let me know. My commitment ends when I mail it- if you want any of that stuff, I am happy to add it on, but you pay for it.


Can I get other colors/sizes?

UPDATE- Brownells sounds like other colors are not going to be a problem, but Magpul warned me today (11-11-8) that OD and Foliage are going to be a wait. They are focusing on Black and FDE, because those are their biggest sellers. You can still order those other colors, but it MAY (or may not) happen that everyone else will get their mags before you.


Who will get their mags first/last?

I will ship them out in the order they are paid for. The first people to pay get the first shipment, and so on. In the case of Money orders received on the same day- if there is more orders than there are mags at that point- I will drop names in a hat and pull them out in the order they are to be shipped.


I’m confused, how much money should I send?


Ok, here is what you need to do.

Figure out what you want and add up the prices. Let’s say you want:

5 Black Standard 30 rounders $12.97 each
5 Black Window 30 rounders $15.95 each
2 Black 20 Rounders $12.50
4 Black Ranger base plate 3-packs $13.25 each

Ok- the base cost of those items is

(12.97*5=64.85; 15.95*5=79.75; 12.50*2=25; 13.25*4=53; 64.85+79.95+25+53= 222.8)

$222.80 dollars

You are getting 16 items, so add twenty cents per item ($16*.2=$3.20), which brings you to $226.00

This should all fit in a regular flat rate box, so add that ($9.80):

Your total is $235.80
(This is where you think to yourself, "Wow, that would be $279.70 if I had ordered directly from Brownells myself, I should kick Micha $15 or so for saving me that $44! I bet shipping all this stuff out is going to take a LOT of his time, and he must have other things he could be doing.")

You could send that in right now.

However, let’s say you want to be nice and kick me a fiver and also let’s say you want to pay by credit card (just by way of illustration). Credit card costs are 4% + $1 above cash costs.

$240.80*1.04= $250.43+$1=$251.43

$251.43 would be your CC cost. You can email me your info (Name, Card Number, Expiration Date, Billing Address; Mailing Address- I do not need or want your three digit number off the back) right now. Again, if you could PM/email me a list of exactly what it is for and make sure I have your screen name, that would be helpful.

They're to damn busy with their little cashcow and trying to make more money to care about the people trying to get ahead with gear.

I don't fault them. They have had problems with GBs in the past, and they have enough to do without policing every buy. The guy who closed it PMed me and said no hard feelings, they just had to watch GB stuff closely.
