Seems to me that it conflicts with the state preemption, RS 40:1796.
I could see them prohibiting firearms from being brought inside a building but what about parking lots and what does this do to Pelican Park? I'm sure the park is parish owned. If this passes, does this mean they can't hold the guns show there anymore?

I heard it was pulled. But don't expect it to go away. I think the next parish council meeting is May 7.
I can not believe that Pat Brister and Richard Tanner would try to diminish our right to keep and bear arms. As far as I am concerned any public official that tries to quash our RKBA ought to be recalled; or at the very least exposed for what they are when they come up for re-election.

The way I understand it, the ordinance was on the agenda in order to be brought up for public comment. Once that has been done, then it can be brought in front of the council for a vote to adopt it and or it to become law.

    Am I correct with this?

On another note, I noticed that on the Tammany Trace website, the wording prohibiting the carry of firearms along the trace has been removed. http://www.tammanytrace.org/index.php/about-the-trace/rules I know this has been a topic elsewhere on this forum. This is just one of the threads: http://www.bayoushooter.com/forums/showthread.php?124247-St-Tammany-Parish-Ordinances&highlight=tammany+trace

But the prohibition still shows up in the Code Of Ordinances: http://www.stpgov.org/files/Council/St%20Tammany%20Parish%20code%20Feb%202014%20with%20links.pdf

Ordinances are normally advertized then introduced with no comments in one meeting and they are open for discussion before a vote is taken during the next meeting.

I attended the meeting, and your'e right. this was pulled. All St. tamanny residents should call their council person and inquire their postion.

I was there. This issue was dealt with BEFORE the meeting started. It was tabled. The wording will be brought in line with state law.

Vigilance. Glad everyone is paying attention.

It is back on the agenda for June 4, 2015.

Anyone can show up, ask to have it pulled from the consent calendar, fill out a speaker card, and speak your mind. Because it is being introduced, this will be early in the meeting and you can leave without sitting through the rest of the meeting if you want.

Last time they just postponed it, though Councilman Tanner said it would be withdrawn. If they wish to postpone or withdraw, that should not stop anyone from speaking on it because it IS on the agenda of a public meeting.
