Anyone have success disputing the appearances o your credit report?

I got one in baker a few couplemonths back but am just seeing it now since I moved and they mailed the ticket to old address. So, i was set to get online and pay the ticket($40) and see that the late fee is $75 so i'm pretty chapped and don't want to pay out of spite.

So i did some googling and came across this thread.

I plan on buying a house soon and have really good credit so i'm not sure how much this will affect it. i have no problem disputing it but not sure if it's worth my time instead of just sucking it up and paying the fine+late fee.

Just, so, so grimy and scummy. Do they pull these numbers out of a hat? How do they get off charging a late fee nearly double the cost of the fine? God; super infuriating.

What's the deal with this? I do seem to recall reading an article in the Advocate about this a couple of months ago. Something about them doing away with these traps because the fines are unenforceable? Do I remember that right?

What happens if you don't pay?

From experience in Baker, if not paid the ticket will go into collections and be put as a negative on your credit.

It's all out of state anyways. CCR Services is who they use (d). A very shady company to deal with.

@samualJ: You're better off paying it now before it goes into collections. Save yourself the hassle and bs of dealing with these people.

I don't know how Baker works but I wasn't going to pay mine in New Orleans and it never went to collections ..........buuuuuuuut I did have to end up paying it two years later to get the boot off my car.

Go ahead and pay it either way they are going to get there money.

There is a difference between a Red Light ticket and one of these side of the road speed traps. Red light tickets are considered a moving violation. The speed trap tickets are not.

That damn trailer got me twice in Baker . Both times I was in a company truck . They mailed the ticket to my company and they tracked me down and gave it to me . No way out of that one .

Buddy got one in my truck in lafayette a few weeks ago.

I sent my payment in with a letter:

All it takes is $25 bucks to drive however I want? Deal. Thanks, payment enclosed.

Friend directed me to this: Jefferson Parish cancelled its contract with Redflex in 2010. The company is currently under federal investigation, and recently lost its $100 million contract with the City of Chicago. This is the same company in operation in Baker and Lafayette. It's a senseless racket, and quite frankly should be illegal.

I find it more amusing to simply annoy them, and I've paid more than $25 to make someone annoying disappear, so why not. who else has an ex-wife? all she wants is half? best deal I ever got.

Red light camera? If so, are you sure about that?

Maybe I mispoke. I was under the impression that they are treated differently. Unless you know differently.

The red light camera tickets in Baton Rouge do not get reported to/on your driving record. Seems like I read that it had to do with problems caused by a private company making criminal charges versus civil fines.

Correct. It was never designed to be a criminal offense
