First let me say I do not go into the gaming area. What is the law as far as going into the build to eat or into the hotel area. I like dining at a few of the restaurants but would prefer to carry. Of all the places for something to happen, a casino just seems like a prime target.

I haven't noticed, but it's been a while. I'm hungry for salt grass but I might just drive to Beaumont. It's better anyway.

There is no law specifically forbidding carry in a casino. Now, that being said, a casino is also a Class A permitted area for serving alcohol and LRS 14:95.5 expressly prohibits that sooooooo. Yea, I think under the letter of the law, the gaming floor is a no-no but the hotel is probably good to go.

Wait, do you mean that they do not have a Class A permit? Because if they had a Class A Restaurant Permit, then it would be legal per that law you referenced.

That being said, I don't think they have a Class A restaurant permit on the floor. I would say you could carry in the casino restaurant / hotel / parking area, but not on the actual gaming floor as it is essentially a bar with games.

    Thoughts?

That would be my take on it.

I was at the Hard Rock this week in Biloxi. I was talking to one of the Security guys about guns and he told me they didn't like guns on their property. He told me to lock mine up in the room safe. He said he didn't like people leaving them in the vehicles. He told me to be sure to NOT forget in in the safe when we checked out because they had to turn it in to Biloxi PD if they found it.
They have no Weapons signs when you go in the building.

Don't they have a no guns sign there?

Sign means nothing in the eyes of the law. If you get caught, all they can do as ask you to leave. If you refuse, then, they can have you arrested for trespassing. Remember the Whole Foods guy? Payday. However, you cannot carry in the Class A section.

Isn't Class A a general restaurant license? And doesn't the law state that you carry concealed in an establishment with a class A license?

Could be. I am away at this time and can't look it up. I know that Louisiana does not have signs like the 30.06 and 30.07 in Texas. Owner/operator can ask you to leave, but unless you are in one of the prohibited places as defined by LA law, you are not violating a law unless you refuse to leave.

The officer in the Whole Foods case did not have authority to make the carrier leave. That would be up to the store manager. This is why he got a payday. Similar to MEM and the Gonzalez police.

I think the confusion comes in the there is no Class A permit and the term Class A is used to refer to either a Class AR or a Class AG.

Class AR is a Restaurant that serves alcohol - CC Ok.
Class AG is a Bar - CC not Ok.

To futher complicate things, there is Class AG-Restaurant Conditional Permit - This permit allows a Class AG (bar) permit holder to operate as a Class AR (restaurant) permit holder between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., which includes the ability to allow persons under the age of 18 years on the licensed premises during these hours. Not sure how this affects CC

All good info. Sounds like it is a confusing topic. Carrying concealed, they should never know. But should it hit the fan, then what?

Going further, if that Casino is on an Indian Reservation, your State issued CHP is invalid! Don't believe me? Take that one up with the Tribal Police!
