These aircraft carriers look formidable and of ultra modern design. There are reports the 1st Chinese aircraft carrier is under construction and could enter service around 2015 or earlier. It won't be long before we see the real thing. Defense analysts are waiting; watching anxiously.

THIS IS QUANTUM LEAP ABOVE ANYTHING WE HAVE ON THE DRAWING BOARD. THEY HAVE THOUGHT " OUTSIDE THE BOX " ON THIS ONE. BETTER SPEED, LARGER CAPACITY, MUCH MORE STABLE, ETC. DEFINITELY A " BLUE-WATER " LONG REACH VESSEL.
PLUS THEY CAN SERVICE THEIR NUKE SUB FLEET IN-BETWEEN THE TWIN HULLS ( SIGHT UNSEEN ) OR EVEN LAUNCH AMPHIBIOUS OPPS FROM SAME. IT WILL BE LAUNCHED IN HALF THE TIME IT TAKES THE USA AT JUST ONE-THIRD THE COST. ADD THE NEW CHINESE STEALTH FIGHTER BOMBER ( NAVAL VERSION ALREADY FLIGHT TESTING ) IN THE MIX AND YOU HAVE THE MAKINGS OF A FORMIDABLE WEAPONS SYSTEM INDEED..
ALSO LOOK AT THAT EXTRA ''PARKING AND READINESS'' STATION BETWEEN BOTH HULL STRUCTURES.. AND OF COURSE THE LAUNCHING AND LANDING CAPABILITIES FROM THE UTILIZATION OF TWIN FLIGHT DECKS AT ONCE

Color me a lil skeptical. I still remember when they "leaked" training footage of their new fighter plane that had scenes from Top Gun spliced in.

What you can't tell from these computer mockups is the planned scale of the new Chinese carrier. Remember, those guys are a lot smaller than Americans. If you look closely, the entire ship is powered by a 12v trolling motor.

    :bowrofl:

I definitely anticipate an ATC problem leading to a helicopter getting struck at the end of one of those runways.

I'm betting on bogus. Why give up 30'+ feet of deck length for chopper landing? You could do that on the flight deck. I bet the winds back there would be swirling at speed also (any pilots onboard feel free to correct me). The guns look like something out of a japanese animation movie. In the bottom pic I wouldn't want to be in one of those guns when they fire one of the rockets.

I think the higher probability is having alot of collisions with the ship!.. if you look at the helipads at the aft end, there is considerable overhang of the flight deck... If this is a real design.

Being a 6 year vet working on the flight deck of various carriers ,I see no catapult launching ,arresting landing gear wires. That brings to question how long is this carrier? Also on the end of the launching end is a helo pad, in my day many, many a/c went off the bow of ship due to cold shots from steam cats.

I believe they have a lot of problems to work out. Maybe they will read this and hire me as an adviser :dunno: for Walmart trading stamps.
