If you're at a parade, yes. But during the rest of the year, no.Is it illegal to carry a firearm in the French Quarter ?

Clearly you haven’t read the constitution…. Shall not be infringed does not make someone a criminal because they are practicing their God given rights. Now don’t get me wrong, there are criminals and bad people. I’m not one of them! Glock is faster than 911 all day long! I’m sure these people were acting suspicious or doing something wrong to be stopped and searched or flat out arrested for doing something wrong. But just because you are legally concealing a weapon at a parade doesn’t make you a criminal. The normal citizen carrying isn’t doing anything to get searched, but if they do it’s just a ticket. They aren’t going to arrest you just for having a concealed weapon. We need to band together as a nation and stop all these gun laws that are ridiculous. A law abiding citizen is faster than waiting for a cop. Criminals don’t abide by the law!!! It’s us law abiding citizens that have to suffer because of stupid people. You can’t bring your gun here, you cant carry there, you are a criminal if you do that….. It just causes division and violence. But don’t get it twisted, all laws are an infringement! It’s a never winning situation….Anyone who carries at a parade is, by definition of the law, an (alleged) criminal. Carrying at a parade is illegal. They were not law abiding citizens if they had their gun at the parage.
lol that’s like a car pinning you against the wall lol. You ain’t moving from that! I wouldn’t be dumb enough to mess with those horses lol.I've watched the horses pin someone up against a wall before. That guy wasn't going anywhere when the horse just kinda leaned into him.
Y’all are killing me lol…. You know what I meant lol…. I still say the best picture is of Clay Higgins with all the different agencies behind him. That image is 2 separate pictures put together. There's not indication that picture was taken because the guns were seized. It's common for units to take a picture before or after some assignment both to document who participated and to use in press releases.
There are ample Supreme Court rulings that would disagree with you.Clearly you haven’t read the constitution…. Shall not be infringed does not make someone a criminal because they are practicing their God given rights.
I believe you. I don't think you're a bad person, I just think you have a borderline sovereign citizen view on the law as it's written. Now don’t get me wrong, there are criminals and bad people. I’m not one of them! Glock is faster than 911 all day long!
There is no such thing as "legally concealing a weapon at a parade" in the state of Louisiana. Carrying at a parade is illegal. Didn't we just go over this?I’m sure these people were acting suspicious or doing something wrong to be stopped and searched or flat out arrested for doing something wrong. But just because you are legally concealing a weapon at a parade doesn’t make you a criminal.
Printing with what's obviously a gun is sufficient to get searched if you're carrying at a parade. They'll probably take your gun. Maybe you don't get arrested, but it's probably likely....The normal citizen carrying isn’t doing anything to get searched, but if they do it’s just a ticket. They aren’t going to arrest you just for having a concealed weapon.
Agreed. But breaking the law isn't the way to change the law. That requires contacting your elected officials. We need to band together as a nation and stop all these gun laws that are ridiculous. No not a sovereign citizen wacko lol. I completely abide by the law lol. I just think the laws are ridiculous to a point. I agree for safety reasons people shouldn’t carry a loaded weapon in the cabin of a plane. That’s why they check them in and they go in the belly of a plane. But once again I would be putting my life in the hands of a sub par law enforcement officer to protect me. I say sub par because I would feel more comfortable with a highly trained person to protect me at 30,000 feet. I don’t go places that try to restrict my ability to protect myself and my family. I have to be a good example for my son who is a deputy sheriff. I wouldn’t want to do anything to hurt his career. But because of criminals and gang bangers I can’t carry a gun into walmart! Are you kidding me? They aren’t pulling up to Walmart and saying oh crap I gotta put my gun in the trunk because I need to go grab some food. We have to suffer these idiotic restrictions to appease the people who have 24/7 protection that is armed and don’t have any restrictions to where they can carry. Hypocrites are a dime a dozen! There are ample Supreme Court rulings that would disagree with you.
Do you think you should be allowed to carry your concealed firearm on an airplane? Do you think that anyone, permit or no permit, should be allowed to carry firearms on airplanes?

Oh it's not just NOLA. A lot of small towns see this sort of thing too. I was shooting at the "local shooting spot" and a cop pulled up to see who was shooting. After calling my information in he got out of his car without my gun and told me he was going to have to keep my gun because he couldn't get any information to confirm it was mine but I was free to leave. I asked for some type of property receipt but was told he didn't have to give me one. Went to courthouse with my receipt and was told they had no such gun and no incident report. Hmmm. Another incident was I loaned my buddy a pistol to compare to one he had just bought. He got pulled over and he let the officer know both pistols were in the vehicle. He also explained having my pistol and gave him my information. My buddy had a felony arrest years before that had been dropped. My buddy was arrested for Felon in possession of firearm both guns confiscated and I was never informed they had my gun. Again, to the courthouse with my receipt and again no record of my gun being confiscated. After a few days of calling my gun suddenly materialized and they gave it back. When my buddy went to court the only charges on him were speeding and failure to stop for police officer. No mention of any firearms! Hmmm. They have a history of failing to return confiscated weapons. Corruption runs really deep in NOLA. From the top, on down.
Uh...earlier you said "Clearly you haven’t read the constitution…. Shall not be infringed does not make someone a criminal because they are practicing their God given rights."No not a sovereign citizen wacko lol. I completely abide by the law lol. Who is highly trained on a plane that is protecting you? That’s why they check them in and they go in the belly of a plane. It's not illegal for you to carry concealed in Walmart (in Louisiana) if you have a CHP. Walmart might not appreciate it, but you aren't breaking the law.I don’t go places that try to restrict my ability to protect myself and my family. I have to be a good example for my son who is a deputy sheriff. I wouldn’t want to do anything to hurt his career. But because of criminals and gang bangers I can’t carry a gun into walmart!
2 things -iirc they regularly have the PD on Bourbon looking for people concealed carrying & confiscating firearms regardless of Mardi Gras/parades.

2 things -
1) people really need to learn how to conceal a gun if they are going to carry "concealed". If it prints, its not concealed.
2) I suppose that even if you are not printing, they are profiling - from the linked story: "Sergeants who are proactive and have been teaching these officers what to look for and characteristics of people who are carrying firearms."
Exactly what I was thinking PerezYou do know the requirements for a conviction and the requirements for a legal investigatory stop are not the same, don't you?
Exactly what I was thinking Perez
I do. And I'm not bothered in the least by least by profiling. Honestly, I suspect that it works pretty well given that local LEO's should have a good idea who to stop after a few years on the job. If you are not doing anything wrong, a minute of compliance should be all that you need to be on your way.You do know the requirements for a conviction and the requirements for a legal investigatory stop are not the same, don't you?

What I can't figure out is why the "profilee's" keep showing up to test the system. Or why people don't take more care in concealing. Especially if they are in a non-permissive area.
Either way, I'm not the guy that they are stopping - I'm as plain vanilla as it gets and don't print at all. Or run with detergent.
I'd go out on a limb that many/most of them did something else besides just being caught illegally carrying a concealed firearm. A few probably were just poorly carrying and were printing. I'm honestly skeptical whether any of the 64 had valid CHPs. I'd like to think that an officer would just give someone a stern talking to if they have a CHP, are sober, and are just in/at a parade and ignorant of the law.I'd really like to know what each of the 64 illegalities were alleged in any arrest records.
Justifiably so. Most people on Bourbon St are drunk or drinking, which doesn't mix with carrying a concealed firearm.iirc they regularly have the PD on Bourbon looking for people concealed carrying & confiscating firearms regardless of Mardi Gras/parades.

Agreed. So many people who have valid CHPs absolutely suck at fully concealing a firearm. It doesn't help that many of them are fat, out of shape, and have no ability to retain a firearm in any hand-to-hand situation, either. But that's a different story.2 things -
