HELP WANTED: Woodshop hand and some general labor in Baton Rouge

I need an extra set of hands for a few woodworking projects that I'm working on, and possibly some help with outdoor projects and home maintenance. The last guy that I hired from this site was intelligent, easy to be around and a very hard worker, so the bar has been set pretty high. We parted on very positive terms.

Rate of pay is based upon your level of experience, but will start at $15 cash per hour. It's not unusual for me to buy you lunch and give a tip at the end of the day for a job well done.

I need help on the weekends and possibly during weekday evenings, depending on your schedule. We will start this weekend.

Relatively simple work. Basic, immediate responsibilities include:

    • Helping me handle heavy objects
    • Sanding with an electric sander
    • Keeping work space tidy
    • Other miscellaneous tasks
    • As things progress, we can discuss expanded responsibilities such as cutting, assembly, etc.

    Here's a look at what we'll be building: www.JCcypress.com

I'm a laid back guy and I'm open to discussion of other methods and techniques, but I will want things done my way.

    Attributes I'm looking for:

    • Your own transportation
    • good attitude
    • desire to learn
    • speak clear & listen well
    • safe work ethic
    • good ethics
    • common sense
    • dependability

Email me your work history and we'll go from there.

    Thanks!
    JC

    BUMP.

My last assistant (like the one before him) has moved on to grad school and we parted on great terms and remain friends.

Back in the market for some help. E-mail me if you're interested in the position or have questions.

    Thanks!

Is this a temporary job or are you looking for a long commitment?

I lost my job last month and can really use the money, this sounds like something I wouldn't mind doing to hold me over while I look for a new maintenance or possibly LE job. I live in Lafayette but wouldn't mind driving to BR depending on how many hours I get in a given day.

    JC,
I compliment you on your work, you are a true artisan. 30 years ago I would have been knocking on your door. Now I have the perfect job - retired.

    Regards, Chuck
